69 year old Dareton man sent to hospital following serious assault.

Police are calling for witnesses following a serious assault of a 69 year old man in his home in Dareton.

Officers were called to a Sturt Place home, after two men forced their way into a home.

The two men reportedly punched, kicked, and assaulted the man with a broom handle; causing lacerations to his face and legs.

Emergency services arrived at the home and treated the man before sending him to Mildura Base Hospital.

It's expected he will be airlifted to Melbourne Hospital for further treatment.

A crime scene has been established, the investigation underway.
