Not wanting to hit the beach on New Years Day and looking for some fun things to do around the city? We've had a look at what's open and what's not, so you can plan ahead for the first day of the year!

1. Pitt Street Mall

Want to do a bit of shopping to get over your night of partying? Selected stores in Pitt Street Mall will be open on New Year's Day from 10am - 7pm

A couple of stores will be closing earlier around 5pm and 6pm, but if you're heading out in the middle of the day you should be fine!

2. Sydney Sealife Aquarium

Feel like a touristy way to kick off the New Year? Spend a day in Darling Harbour and pop in to the Sealife Aquarium. They'll be open from 9:30am - 5pm.

3. Madame Tussauds Sydney

Want to start your year surrounded by celebrities? Great news, you can! Madame Tussauds on Darling Harbour will be opening their doors from 9:30am - 5pm, so you can grab a belated New Year's kiss from your favourite celebrity.

4. Wet'n'Wild Sydney

Want to spend the day in the water and have a few thrills with your family? Wet'n'Wild Sydney will be opening their doors from 10am - 8pm on New Year's Day! 

5. iFly

Fly into the New Year at iFly Indoor Skydiving in Penrith! If you're not brave enough to jump out of a plane, you can get the exact same experience and keep your feet relatively close to the ground. They will be opening their doors from 7am - 10pm, though we suggest you phone ahead to make sure you can get your flight.
