More than 40 teachers were sacked over the last year-and-a-half by the Queensland College of Teachers for bad behaviour, including sex with students, according to the Courier Mail.

The Brisbane-based paper also alleged that one teacher was accused of awarding a top mark in exchange for revealing photographs.

It was revealed that the college, who were responsible for the registration of over a hundred thousand teachers in the state, received almost twice as many complaints in 2020 as in 2019.

Less than halfway through 2021, nine teachers were already stood down across the state for posing a dangerous risk to their pupils or for committing serious offenses. The serious offenses in question included child-related sexual abuse and the possession of child exploitation material.

Experts said that learning from home heightened the risk of lines being blurred between teachers and their students, while also providing the problematic educators with direct video access to the family home.
