Today is White Ribbon Day and Josiah & Elly spoke to local footy legend, Echuca basketball coach and property valuer, Simon Eishold on how we can work towards eliminating violence against women every day.

Simon was part of a local baking competition today called Real Men Bake Cakes at Echuca Wharf to help raise awareness for White Ribbon Day.

Here are some statistics that prove why this day is so important:

  • 1 in 4 women have experienced emotional abuse by a current or former partner since the age of 15.

  • On average, one woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner.

  • Almost 40% of women continued to experience violence from their partner while temporarily separated.
