When you think of the hardest jobs in the country, some of the first ones you think of are those connected to the emergency services.
SES, Police, Ambulance workers, Paramedics and of course, the 000 Emergency Assistance call workers.
Sometimes we forget that the people taking these traumatic calls are regular people who can be haunted by the events that they hear on the other side of the telephone line, and can also be extremely helpful when situations arise.
This morning, Heidi, Xavier and Ryan spoke to Carla, who used to work as a 000 Emergency Assistance operator and she explained exactly what runs through their minds when someone calls them with a very intense situation.
She explained that throughout her time as a 000 operator, she'd spoken to people going through home invasions, people giving birth and, unfortunately, people who have died at the end of the call.
