Bodge and Rach spoke to Hassan Al Kontar, a Syrian national, who has been working in the UAE for the last ten years in insurance marketing, and is now stuck in the limbo that is Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

When he refused to return home to fight in the Syrian armed forces, his passport was revoked and he found himself also blacklisted from entering Malaysia, while in transit  through Kuala Lumpur.

"It's not a matter of option" he said. "It's a matter of principle. I refuse war as a solution or as an answer."

Hassan was fortunate enough to have reached some amazing people from Canada who are doing their best to assist him with a temporary visa. However, the wait for an answer from the Canadian Immigration Office is getting tougher. Hassan sleeps only 1-2 hours a day, which he says is now just a way of life.

"There's no morning, day or night. I start my day whenever I wake up." he said. "I know what it means to be hungry, to be scared, to be illegal. Always running, hiding."

When Bodge and Rach asked what could be done to help Hassan's situation, he simply replied; "Tell my story."
