Defensive Architecture Is Everywhere And You Probably Didn't Even Notice

It's To Keep The Homeless Away

Last night Tommy Little appeared on The Project to talk about a campaign he has been involved in to raise awareness for youth homelessness.

He raised a pretty serious issue that is taking place in all cities across Australia and that's defensive architecture. It is where spikes, bars and other obstructions are placed on park benches, raised surfaces and floors to prevent people from sleeping there.

It's not the solution to the homeless crisis. It is a solution that shuns the homeless out of the area so people don't have to deal with it.

Tommy has been posting photos of himself recently on Instagram that have caused a bit of a stir. He posted a series of model shots that are at different locations of organisations that help the homeless. He wanted to highlight the different organisations and showcase the work that they do.
