Every day we hear of some new ‘wonder’ food or drink that will replace our beloved cheesy carbs and sugary soft drinks. But which ones are the real deal?
This morning, Amos, Cat & Angus spoke with nutritionalist and food scientist Katie Kiosses from Henley Beach’s F45 to let us know how some of the most popular drink fads of the moment are helping Australians who have ditched the soft drinks and alcohol.
Katie confirmed that coconut water is a great way to hydrate without reaching for those sugary energy drinks.
“So basically, it does have sugar but if you’re going to be drinking something like Gatorade or Powerade then it’s a better alternative.”
According to Katie, the wildly popular fermented tea drink helps with our gut health and aids digestion.
The only thing we need to be weary of, is the sugar levels in flavoured editions of the drink.
“There’s all types of flavours you can get now that might increase that sugar content.”
