We've known for a while that the popular '80s movie Heathers was being rebooted as a TV series and while some loved the idea, others weren't huge fans of it, but there's one thing that everyone will surely agree on... the show is VERY different to the movie we know and love.
With every reboot, there's always bound to be a few things that are different from the original, however, the differences between the Heathers TV show and the Heathers movie are just too big to ignore.
Firstly, Toto, we're definitely not in the '80s anymore.
The new series is set in the present day and because of this, the Heathers themselves have had a bit of a Generation Z makeover.
Heather Chandler is now a body positive teen who lets nothing stand in her way, Heather Duke is now a gender-fluid boy and Heather McNamara is a woman of colour.
The three Heathers still rule the school and all of the teachers seem to know it because they're talking about them in the staff room as if they were students themselves!
So, even the teachers are in on 'what's hot and what's not', which is... interesting.
Now, although there are some pretty significant changes here, there are still a lot of throwbacks to the original movie.
The language that the students used is still exactly the same and guys, Shannen Doherty, who played Heather Duke in the movie, is still playing a Heather in the reboot!
She's most likely playing an older version of herself because if you look closely, you'll see that she's STILL wearing her red scrunchie!
There's a lot to take in here, people...
The series premieres in March on TV Land in the U.S, there's no word on whether or not we'll see it here on Australian screens, but it'll no doubt come down under soon enough!
