Former contestants and runners-up of The Block, Julia Treuel and Sasha Wright-Neville, have recently received some horrifying health news.
Julia and Sasha who competed in the previous season of Channel Nine's popular renovation show were known as the season's fearless duo, not the ones to shy away from a bit of controversy.
They came in at second place and were almost ready to jet off on a US getaway together.
However, in a recent interview with New Idea, the couple revealed they've been fighting a battle of their own.
In 2016, Sasha found out she was suffering from endometriosis, a condition where the lining of the uterus grows outside its normal layer. The condition has no cure, causes crippling pain, and affects one in 10 Aussie women.
"The gynaecologist said it was the worst case they'd seen in decades," Sasha said.
Recalling the day Julia had to rush her partner to the hospital, she said this level of agony was not normal.
"She's normally such a stoic person, never complains about pain, but she was moaning in agony, so I bundled her into the car and off we went."
Trying to relieve Sasha of the pain, her appendix and an ovary was removed, which were harmed by her condition.
"It wasn't the most wonderful time," Sasha said. "Even the morphine didn't seem to work."
Sasha has been told that the next step is to have her uterus removed.
We wish Sasha all the best with her next steps of the process.
