My Kitchen Rules has started up again for another year, and is set to serve some serious drama with Rachael and Roula cemented as the season’s ‘villains’.
Now, the duo have opened up about the labelling to the Sydney Morning Herald.
Roula, 34, said, "It's really surreal.
"The commercials are a little bit out there, so I didn't know what to expect. But I don't mind if I'm the villain. I'd rather be something than nothing.
"I pretty much say it as it is.
"I don't care what the public has to say. I don't look at it. My mum is on Facebook trying to stick up for me. I say, mum... if I don't care, why should you care? No one knows what you went through unless you were there, so they can say whatever the hell they wanna say.”
However, Rachael, in her early twenties, isn’t the same when it comes to criticism.
"I hate when people comment thinking they know about the show.
"It's really frustrating. I'm so surprised we got painted as villains, honestly. Even the other contestants have messaged me saying they're shocked we're the villains. I didn't expect it.
"It's interesting to see how we're being portrayed.
"You never sat down and thought, 'oh, I'm actually going to be on TV in six months'. It was just like you were at this weird dinner party. I'm having a lot of moments where I'm like, did I say that?"
Rolla continued, saying, "I'll be honest with you… the first instant restaurant challenge, we were not gelling at all.
"The moment we walked in there, those girls looked up and down at us and it continued. People are like, 'oh my god, this is so scripted'. Well, it's not scripted. Anything we say to each other in that room is real.”
