Get the tissues because today is a sad day for Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans everywhere.
Chelsea Peretti, the hilarious actress who plays Gina Linetti on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has announced that she will be leaving the series mid-way through season six.
Chelsea has played Gina from the get-go and has become an icon for sassy ladies everywhere, but now, she's taking some time off and although she says she might be back on set at some point, right now, she's taking a step back.
The actress and comedian announced the sad news on Twitter, reposting the message that another actress, Emmy Rossum, shared when she decided to leave her own TV show Shameless.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine's co-creator Dan Goor also took to Twitter to release a statement about Chelsea's departure, saying that the writers have tried to create a fitting send-off for the character who "is the living embodiment of the 100 emoji".
It's important to note that although Chelsea has announced her departure, there's a strong chance that she will come back as a guest for a few episodes here and there, she just won't be gracing us with her presence in every single episode anymore.
We're going to miss you, Gina!
