It gets pretty darn annoying having to constantly update the iOS on our phones, but a lot of the time we get gifted with something that makes our life easer…
Except this time.
It turns out that one of the functions on the iOS 11 update is basically, well, useless… and doesn’t do what we think it will.
The Bluetooth and Wi-Fi buttons on iOS 11 (when you swipe up on your iPhone and proceed to turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi via those icons), don’t actually turn off those functions.
Instead, they will only disconnect you from any devices you have been connected to, but the radios in the device will still remain on and active.
This change has been made so that functions connected to your Apple Watch or AirDrop still remain active.
This may be a convenience for some, but for others it could pose a security risk as it’s always good practice to disconnect these radios.
However, you still can turn off these radios, you just have to take the time to go into Settings for each of these functions and turn them OFF.
And no one wants to do that...
