Steven Spielberg has reacted to Natalie Portman's incredible call at the Golden Globes.
Taking home the gold for the most iconic moment of the 75th annual Golden Globes, Natalie Portman's shade thrown at the lineup of all-male nominees for the Best Director Award will not soon be forgotten.
And now, American director Steven Spielberg, who was nominated for the award and is also very much, ahem, male, has responded to the 36-year-old actress' call.
When asked about the comment whilst speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Spielberg said while there were, unfortunately, no female director nominees at the Golden Globes, he is confident there will be at the Oscars.
“There’s also a watershed happening right now, slowly, maybe not fast enough, for women directors.
“I mean you have Patty Jenkins [Wonder Woman director]. We have some amazing women that have come forward, you know Mudbound and Lady Bird. This is a pretty incredible year, and I think you’ll be seeing some nominations, I’m predicting, at the Oscars this year for a woman director, if not several.”
The Oscar nominations are set to be out this month, fingers crossed for a female future!
