Katy Perry is one hell of a talented chick, but it looks like she won’t get a chance to shine at this year’s Victoria’s Secret Runway Show in China, because, well, she’s been banned indefinitely…
The show first lost Gigi Hadid from its line up this week, and now Katy, after Page Six revealed she has been removed from her gig.
According to Page Six, Katy’s visa was yanked at the last minute, and she has also been banned indefinitely from the country due to a sunflower dress she wore back in 2015 - a dress which placed two huge sunflowers strategically over her breasts.
She wore the dress during a show in Taipei, Taiwan, in 2015 - and the sunflower is an image which is used by anti-China protesters as a symbol…
This was enough, reportedly, to prompt a ban.
Page Six wrote, "She was initially granted a visa to perform at the VS show in Shanghai, then Chinese officials changed their minds and yanked her visa. For every artist who wants to perform in China, officials comb through their social-media and press reports to see if they have done anything deemed to be offensive to the country. Maroon 5 was banned a few years ago because one band member wished the Dalai Lama happy birthday on Twitter.”
Katy has now joined a long list of celebrities who have been banned from the country, including Harrison Ford, Brad Pitt, Sharon Stone and Bjork.
