Amidst the shocking sexual assault allegations involving major Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein, actor James Van Der Beek has spoken out.
Numerous actresses are slowly speaking out about sexual harassment in the entertainment industry after an exposé in The New York Times revealed Harvey Weinstein of having sexually harassed women over the past three decades and paying them off to remain silent.
Now, Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek wants people to know that it is not just woman who have been harassed. The actor tweeted out:
“What Weinstein is being accused of is criminal. What he’s admitted to is unacceptable - in any industry. I applaud everybody speaking out.
“I’ve had my ass grabbed by older, powerful men, I’ve had them corner me in inappropriate sexual conversations when I was much younger...
“I understand the unwarranted shame, powerlessness & inability to blow the whistle. There’s a power dynamic that feels impossible to overcome”
James was just 20 years old when he burst onto the scene as the star of Dawson's Creek.
