Cara Delevingne is a breath of fresh air in this day and age, impressing us with her talents and humour, and helping us to learn that we shouldn’t take life so seriously all the time.
But no matter how much we all love her, that hasn’t stopped fans from slamming the star for her recent comments about selfies.
The starlet took to Instagram to share an image of a girl reading, with the words “One girl loved reading so much she forgot how to take a selfie.”
But fans took this in a very bad way…
Some labelled her as trying to position herself as better than everyone else who doesn’t read, or is heavily into selfie culture.
Cara was quick to respond, saying, "Wow! The backlash on this picture is heavy!! I am not trying to say that I am better than anyone. It's a nice reminder to me and to anyone. The power of getting lost in a book.”
There are MANY pros to reading (it can make us happier, improves our language and empathy skills, plus it’s good to immerse your imagination in another realm!), and Cara has never been one to be all high-and-mighty, so maybe we can all try and take note of the good things Cara was trying to say?
After all, we don’t want books to be lost forever.
Someone needs to read them (and write them!), so why can’t that someone be you?
