Musical maestro Simon Cowell has recruited Liam Payne for a charity single to raise money for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

The single will be a cover of Simon & Garfunkel's 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' and will feature the One Direction singer performing alongside a variety of other British musicians.

All proceeds from the single will be donated to the victims of the blaze.

The Sun have reported that Liam will be joined by James Arthur, Emeli Sande, Craig David and legendary rock group The Who on the track, which will be recorded this Sunday.

Simon decided to record the single after seeing footage of the Grenfell Tower fire.

He told The Sun that he is still contacting artists and hopes that more musicians will want to get involved.

"Until that last note has been finished, we will not be off the phone

"We started 24-hours ago and already we’re getting calls coming in, mainly from Brits.

"A lot of London artists, people like Skepta, Stormzy, Emile Sande, The London Community Gospel Choir, all wanted to be involved."

The single is expected to be released on June 19.
