The MTV Movie and TV Awards will kick off on Monday and while we are fully ready for anything that will come our way… we can’t help but feel a bit nostalgic.

We have been through a lot with all the MTV awards and tbh one of our fave years was 2001.

It’s hard to believe how much has actually changed in 16 years… and it also freaks us out that most of the celebs who attended that year are still attending today.

Talk about career goals.

The MTV Movie and TV Awards of 2001 was hosted by the iconic duo Jimmy Fallon and Kirsten Dunst.

Naturally, Ben Stiller won an award for Best Comedic Performance for his role in Meet The Parents.

Cameron Diaz won an award for her iconic dancing in Charlie’s Angels.

Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas steamed up the popcorn with the hottest reenactment of the romance that won them Best Kiss for Save the Last Dance.

Burn baby burn.

This skit of Britney Spears defending Adam Sandler went viral. (2.10 on-wards…. we can’t even.)

2001 was the last year Aaliyah appeared at the MTV Movie Awards, she tragically passed away two months later in a plane crash while she was in the Bahamas after shooting a music video.

Christina Aguilera, Mya, Pink and Lil’ Kim performed their hit Lady Marmalade.

Jim Carrey's famous “Telepathetic" speech also went viral… because well, Jim Carrey.

We also need to talk about this moment with Gwen Stefani and Lil’ Kim the red carpet.

Also, check out these looks...

Oh what a year…

Don’t miss the MTV Movie and TV Awards, from 9:30am Monday 8th May on MTV Australia!
