Star Wars has long been a force to be reckoned with in the film and fandom realms.
For years, it has cast a spell over us all, wowing us with the fantastical storylines and stunning visual effects, and we’re about to get another dose of the series from the perspective of one of our all time favourite characters: Obi-Wan Kenobi!
The Hollywood Reporter is circling the news that a standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi film is finally in the works, if only in the early stages, and might have Oscar-nominated director Stephen Daldry on board sometime very soon (Daldry directed The Reader, Billy Elliot and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close).
While to project doesn’t have a script just yet, everyone is losing their minds over the news!
Fans are speculating about the storyline, with some believing it will be an exploration of Obi-Wan’s backstory before Episode I, while others believe it will show us what he gets up to between Episode III and Episode IV.
Fingers crossed we’ll get to see Ewan McGregor return, because we all know he’d be more than willing to do it!
He even stated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly this year that, "I’ve always said that I’d be happy to do it if they wanted to do it. It would be a good segue between the last episode of the prequels and the new episodes. I think they’ve got films to make until the 2020s, so I don’t think it’s going to happen soon if it happens at all.”
We can’t wait to see where all this goes from here...
