Li Shang Probably Won't Be In The Mulan Remake & Disney Fans Can't Handle It Disney

Now, we understand that when you're making a live-action version of an animated film, some changes need to be made because what could be possible for a cartoon, may not be possible for a human being.

However, there are some things you just shouldn't mess with, like, the love between Li Shang and Mulan for example.

A casting call for actors to audition for the new Mulan live-action film hit the internet this week and Li Shang, Mulan's mentor and afterwards, lover, is not on the casting list.

From what the casting call says, our hero's new love interest will be a man named Chen Honghui, who kind of sounds like a loser.

"Full of himself, with a mean, bullying streak to him… he quickly realises that Mulan is his chief rival, but he does not realise that she is a woman. Grittily determined to be simply the best at everything, Honghui is increasingly peeved by Mulan’s ability to match or out-maneuver him. But after learning that his rival is a woman, his intense feelings of rivalry turn into something very different, something like love."

Mushu will not stand for this!

Chen Honghui has not yet been cast but the mentor role in Mulan's life will be filled by Commander Tung, who will be played by Donnie Yen.

To be honest, The Matchmaker also hasn't been cast and neither has Mushu, sooooo we have no idea who else is going to be cut!

Save us, Mushu!
