After six incredibly juicy seasons on our small screens, Downton Abbey is coming back... as a movie!
The Crawleys haven't been on our TVs since 2015, and boy, are we excited to see what they've been up to.
The Associated Press is reporting that Michael Edelstein, president at NBCUniversal Studios (the distribution company of the show) said that the movie has been "in the works for some time."
“We are working on getting the script right and then we’ve got to figure out how to get the [cast] together," he said. "Because as you know, people go on and do other things. But we’re hopeful to make a movie sometime next year.”
While this may possibly mean some new characters, or even new actors playing the old characters, Edelstein brought some reassurance our way, saying that he hopes to bring at least 20 of the actors over from the TV series.
Tbh, as long as Maggie Smith is there, we shouldn't have an issue.
The movie is set to start filming in 2018.
