Your Cat Could Give You A Parasite That Makes You BETTER In Business

Pets are a gift from heaven.

They’re beautiful creatures who shower us with love and affection, there to help brighten our days!

However, it turns out they can do much more than that…

According to a new study, a parasite which is found in cat poo has been linked to people having a higher chance of doing well in business and entrepreneurial endeavours, if they’ve been infected.

If you come into contact with cat poo, undercooked, contaminated meat and contaminated water, you could contract Toxoplasma gondii. Most people don’t show symptoms.

The study, published in the journal Proceeding of the Royal Society B, showed that uni students who tested positive to the parasite were 1.4 times more likely to major and do well in business, while professionals infected were 1.8 times more likely to establish their own company. Through contact with cat poo with this parasite, people can get the infection toxoplasmosis.

All of the study’s results proved a positive correlation between the parasite and entrepreneurial behaviour.

They also found that countries who had a high prevalence of the parasite and infection had a lower amount of people who said ‘fear of failure’ was a reason for not pursuing their business goals.

While they’re more likely to start a business, there’s no result on if they’re more likely to keep it running.

Lead author Stefanie Johnson explained, “We can see the association in terms of the number of businesses and the intent of participants, but we don’t know if the businesses started by T.gondii-positive individuals are more likely to succeed or fail in the long run.

“New ventures have high failure rates, so a fear of failure is quite rational. T.gondii might just reduce that rational fear.”
