Australia was just witness to a history-making event, with the first ever Women’s State of Origin game last night.
While the two states have been battling it out in women's Interstate Challenges since 1999, this is the first time we’ve seen a match on national free-to-air television as the NSW and QLD women fought for the title at North Sydney Oval.
The mighty Blues took home the title, 16-10 over the Maroons, as girls and women from across the country flocked to the oval in support of the huge event.
Other Aussies watched on from their TV sets, tuning into Channel 9 as both teams broke gender barriers and inspired a whole new generation of girls in sport.
Fans took to Twitter to praise the event.
What a great game of footy it was!
