If you're is getting divorced, what is the most appropriate thing to do with your wedding ring?
One mother decided that chucking it in a jewellery box to collect dust was simply not an option, instead, she gave it to her daughter as a gift.
After 10 years, the ring was transformed into a new piece of jewellery that carried a significant message.
On her 21st birthday, Devin Petit posted a photo of a beautiful necklace on Twitter, explaining what the gift meant to her and her parents.
"My Mom gave me this necklace this morning as an early birthday gift.
"It’s made from the diamonds of her wedding band.
"She said although her marriage to my dad didn’t work out, they both agreed I was the best thing to come from it, which is why she wanted me to have it."
Karen Beardsley, the mother in question, wanted to show her daughter that although her parents aren't married, she still has a family who loves her.
Devin told Buzzfeed News that her parents had a good relationship following their divorce.
"My parents always maintained an amicable relationship and were really conscious of me and how I felt and always put me first."
Karen also told Buzzfeed News that the necklace represents the teamwork involved in raising Devin.
"I think it represents successful co-parenting over the years and the love that both her dad and I have for her."
The post has gone viral on Twitter with 29,000 retweets and counting!
It's a heartwarming tale of co-parenting at its finest!
