Now that it's summer, you're going to be going to a few more barbecues and parties, so your bar fridge is probably going to be very full, very quickly!

When you go to these events, everyone will no doubt be drinking a variety of different alcoholic beverages and may or may not wake up with a crazy hangover the next morning, depending on what kind of event it is...

But have you ever stopped to think about what else your choice of beverage is doing to your body?

Other than giving you a brutal hangover if you drink too much, some alcoholic beverages can actually improve your overall health in a variety of ways!

Here's how your favourite drink will affect you this party season:

Rosé

If you're a fan of rosé you'll be pleased to know that this bad boy has quite a few health benefits! 

According to Livestrong.com, the wine is low in calories, can help reduce cholesterol and has a bunch of antioxidants to help improve your skin!

Aperol Spritz

This has become an iconic summer drink over the last few years and guess what, it's actually got some amazing health benefits too!

Aperol spritz's can help flatten your tummy by taking down bloating with those wonderful bitters and is very low in calories as well!

White Wine

Now, white wine is not as good as rosé health wise, but it still does have quite a few antioxidants and is one of few drinks that may not give you a heavy hangover!

Whiskey

Whiskey has been around for hundreds of years, mainly because not only will this bad boy warm you up in the cold winter months, but it'll also boost your heart health, aid digestions and is low in calories!

We know for a fact that HEAPS of people in Australia love their gin and it's good that we do because gin actually helps reduce wrinkles, fight coughs and, like rosé and aperol, is very low in calories!

Beer

Beer is the most common alcoholic beverage you'll see this summer and because it's full of gluten, it can, unfortunately, make you feel quite bloated and tired if you drink too much.

However, beer does reduce the risk of heart disease and is sometimes used to increase the flow of breast milk!

Now, cider is an interesting one because it is now considered a superfood... in a way.

Apple Cider Vinegar has become a massive wellness trend over the last 12 months because it can help improve gut health and acne, amongst other things.

Adding alcohol to it may not be the greatest idea, but clearly, some of it is good for you!

Vodka

Vodka, like many other drinks on this list, is very low in calories and helps reduce wrinkles, but one thing you may not know is that vodka is quite a good disinfectant and is sometimes used as an aesthetic.

So if you have a bit of a tumble, as long as someone's got vodka, you know your cut will be okay!

Last but not least, we have the healthiest alcoholic beverage of them all: red wine.

Red wine can improve cardiovascular health, improve lung function and treat acne because of it's incredibly large amount of antioxidants!
