Cheese kind of has this rep for not being the healthiest food in the world, but science says it isn’t as bad as you think!
Researchers from the Texas A&M University have suggested that aged cheese is good for your liver and could extend your lifespan!
The natural “spermidine” that is found in aged cheese is "able to prevent liver fibrosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, the most common type of liver cancer, developing by stopping damaged cells replicating".
It gets better, apparently, this cancer prevention occurs when you eat a lot of cheese - which we do!
Examples of aged cheese include cheddar, brie, parmesan, swiss, gouda, gruyere, blue, and some mozzarella.
Obviously, eating a heap of cheese can also cause a number of concerning health issues like high blood pressure… so… there’s that too.
