Good-bye summer, hellooo winter! When it comes to dressing for the freezing cold, it can be tempting just to completely wrap yourself in your doona, put on some gumboots and feel ready to take on the day! Unfortunately, that isn’t so much socially acceptable, which is a huge shame. But then again, there are other ways you can dress that feel like you ARE wrapped in your doona. But this time, you’ll look a bit more put-together and a tad fashionable. Don’t believe me? Check out how you can stay fashionably warm this winter:
For those cold, wet days there’s nothing that’s more of a lifesaver than a puffer jacket. It’s thick, warm and you can get pretty colours to distract you from the fact that it’s gloomy outside. Always go for the style with a high neck and hood because it will be comfort you when you’re wishing you were at home in front of the heater watching Gossip Girl. Even though that’s every day, but still. Not only will this get you from A to B, but it is great for wearing with active wear.
Velvet has been an absolutely winner lately and it’s now translating into footwear. While your normal monochrome boots are good and all, velvet boots are where it’s at. They’re warm, they look fabulous and if you’re bored you can just sit there and rub them back and forth…even though that’s probably a bit weird (just ride with me on this one). The block heels on this particular style means they’re easy to walk in, so you won’t be sinking into wet grass anytime soon – winner!
Getting dressed in winter is a race. A race to get dressed so you are cold for only a short amount of time. The worst part is trying to find a perfect match for your top or bottoms. There’s no time to be rummaging through your wardrobe because if you don’t hurry, you might get hypothermia (might be over-exaggerating)! But what is actually a creation from the heavens is a suit, so you don’t even have to worry. Not only that, but stripes are in this season and what better way to wear stripes then to wear...DOUBLE STRIPES!
Faux Fur Coats
Ahhh the warm goodness of a (faux, of course) fur coat is like being in a toasty marshmallow – without the stickiness. Sometimes you just don’t want to deal with the pressures of life and layering a thousand garments to be somewhat warmer. Hey, I get it. I’m on your side. The amazing thing about reaching for your fur coat is you don’t need much to stay warm because it does all of it for you. Lazy girls unite!
If hitting the snow or walking in mud is a common occurrence for you, you really can’t go past a great set or durable gum boots so you’re not slipping and sliding through the season. Forget ruining your normal shoes with sludge and other such environmental hazards when you can look cute as a button in these! Hunter boots are not only iconic, but they are well worth the money. You’ll never want to wear anything else!
