Regional Development minister Alannah MacTiernan has announced that York and Northam events will receive funding from the government as part of the 2017/18 Regional Events Scheme.
This September the York Festival and Northam Motor Sport Festival in April 2018 were among 62 other regional events that were successful recipients across WA.
Tourism minister Paul Papalia said tourism is a key economic driver for regional Western Australia. “Events play an important role in strengthening the economy by attracting visitors to the region, generating media attention which provides valuable exposure of the destination and adding vibrancy to the local community. “The Regional Events Scheme helps to promote Western Australia as an exciting and vibrant destination, home to a great range of sporting, arts, cultural and culinary events held throughout the year.”
Regional Development minister Alannah MacTiernan said “The scheme is part of the Government’s plans to support the regions to showcase and promote their unique and diverse attractions, making them exciting places to visit and great places to live.”
