The Gold Industry Group has unveiled its second virtual gold trail in Kalgoorlie which coincides with the towns 125th anniversary of the discovery of gold.
Based on the Kalgoorlie story, the self-guided interactive journey takes visitors through 11 landmarks of historical significance through the historic gold mining town.
Set on the Heart of Gold Australia app, the trail provided an engaging learning experience and incorporated tools such as augmented reality, widgets, captivating images, video and audio recordings.
In support of the company’s long-term education initiative, the digital experience was aligned to the primary and secondary school Australian curriculum.
The trail started from Market Arcade, through Kalgoorlie’s city centre, to the Museum of the Goldfields.
In October 2017, The Gold Industry Group launched its first virtual gold treasure trail, which started at Elizabeth Quay and ended at the Perth Mint.
