October 26th and 27th saw the 122-year-old Bijou Theatre transformed into a haunted house. The Esperance Theatre Guild’s “Once Upon a Nightmare” - an interactive, live-horror production - had over 1000 people walk through 10 sections of the theatre and coming into contact with the cast members.

The event involved more than 50 cast and set volunteers, who worked on everything from set construction, costumes and makeup to performing and preparations for the event had been taking place for almost a year.

The Esperance Theatre Guild were impressed by the number of attendees and feedback received and said only a small amount of patrons were not able to make it through to the end of the production, using the ‘safe’ word ‘Rumpelstiltskin’.
