Prominent buildings linked to war service across regional WA will be lit up by a projection of 59,000 glowing red poppies to mark the centenary of the Armistice declaration.

The start of November will see the light installation projected onto buildings in commemoration of the sacrifice of those who served in World War One.

The Armistice, declared 100 years ago on November 11, ended four years of fighting and the poppies were an enduring symbol of remembrance of WW1.

Tonight's display is happening at the Kalgoorlie Town Hall and the projections will run from sunset to midnight.

The displays then moves to the Albany Town Hall on November 8, and then Bunbury’s St Patrick’s Cathedral on November 9.
