Kalgoorlie Police Seek Witnesses After Assault

Kalgoorlie Detectives said at about 7pm on Wednesday, March 14 a 23-year-old woman was running along the footpath that divides Centennial Park. As she approached the car park she was grabbed from behind and dragged into the bushes nearby.

The man allegedly pinned the victim down on her back for the entirety of the incident. He physically assaulted the woman, causing minor injuries, and also attempted to sexually assault her.

After she struggled, the man finally released her and ran from the area towards Somerville.

The man is described as being approximately 6 feet tall, with a medium build and overweight belly, dark skinned, short shaved hair, ‘gappy’ decaying teeth and was wearing a dark hooded jumper and dark jeans with red dirt on them.

Detectives say a number of activities were in progress at the time of the incident including a boot camp, prayer meeting and football training in and around Centennial Park and are calling for public help to identify the offender.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Kalgoorlie Police Station.
