The Commonwealth Games are coming to Queensland in 2018, the good news is, you don’t have to be an elite athlete to get involved. For the first time, organizers have done away with celebrities and politicians to carry the baton in the famous international pre-games relay, instead, opting for local legends like yourself, and the nominations are closing soon! Monday to be specific.
All you need to get nominated is an email address and a 100 word bio, it takes about 5 minutes to get your info in, and you could be involved in one of the biggest sporting event relays of all time.
The baton itself has been travelling around the world visiting all the commonwealth countries since March, and is currently making its way across Africa.
It’ll arrive in Australia in December (a perfect little Chrissy Present) and will wiz through Townsville on the 18th and 19th of March.
The games themselves kick off on the 4th of April and Townsville is featured as an official competition city, hosting the Basketball.
