May The 4th Be With You

It's Star Wars Day, ya Wookie!

May The 4th Be With You

International Star Wars day it is! Whether you’re a full blown Jedi Master or just a dabbling Padawan, it’s a great day to don some Princess Leia ear muffs and have some Ewoking good fun.

It’s perfect timing with Townsville’s 2nd Magneticon Pop Culture Junket just one month away (Sat & Sun the 3rd and 4th of June) at Townsville Stadium.

The next installment of the great Spacey Saga is due to hit our screens in December this year, so here are our fave 3 SW facts to have some fun with!

1: Yoda was originally gonna be played by a monkey. Yep, the 70’s was a different time and when Georgio El Lucas wrote the little green character, the original plan was to put a mask on a monkey and just hope it, kind of…acted.

2: The little desert planet of Tatooine was actually shot in Tunisia.  Many of the tiny igloo style sand huts are actually still standing today, and have even become regular households for some locals!

3: Return of the Jedi nearly had a totally different ending. In one storyboarding session Lucas was toying with the idea of having Luke kill Vader, remove his helmet and put it on, proclaiming “NOW I AM VADER”! This would’ve seen Luke switch to the dark side and change the course of the entire rest of the series.
