5 Things That Used to Happen At The Albury Skate Rink

Get ready to HIT THE DECK!

5 Things That Used to Happen At The Albury Skate Rink

Remember when skating was the craze you and ALL your friends were into?  The sport was widely popular during the 80s and saw a resurgence in the 90s upon release of the Mighty Ducks franchise of films (and you either wanted to be the Josh Jackson character... or pash him!).  Albury’s Village Skateland was a place most Border locals remember visiting as a kid, unfortunately it shut in 2015 due to its operators no longer being able to pay the rent in the face of dwindling numbers.

But skating is making a COMEBACK!   A new skating facility is set to open soon on North Street in Albury.

In celebration, here’s some of our most cherished memories of skating on The Border:

You almost definitely broke your wrist or tailbone playing ‘hit the deck’

When you arrived late and all the roller blades were already loaned out

When that awkward slow kid just kept getting in your goddamned way!

You’re still unsure how you didn’t make it into the Mighty Ducks film

Stopping was just smashing right into the edge of the rink
