A young Inner West mum’s fortune has taken a $20 million turn after she cleaned up in last night’s Powerball lotto draw.
Still “pinching herself”, the Sydney woman’s entry was one of the two division one winning entries in Powerball draw 1140 on 22 March 2018.
“I’m in shock! I’m seriously still in shock. I’m just so happy. It’s huge,” she said.
“I’m still pinching myself. I logged in to my account. I couldn’t believe if it was true or not so I said I’ll wait and see if I get a phone call.
“When I told my husband, I almost gave him a heart attack. I was calling him from the other room. I ran up to him and said ‘I think I’ve just won Powerball – it says it here!’.
“He said ‘you have, you’ve won it’. Then I started crying. I’ve been in shock ever since and I haven’t had any sleep. I kept logging in and looking at it, thinking ‘Is it real? Is it not real?’"
The mum from Lewisham said it had been a difficult time for her family recently as her and her husband worked hard and looked after their young children.
But when a NSW Lotteries official contacted the woman to confirm her prize, she admitted she had already discovered the dream-come-true news.
“It’s come at the best time. It’s been struggle after struggle,” she said.
Each entry takes home a massive division one prize of $20,000,000. In addition to winning the division one prize, the woman’s PowerHit entry also won division two 19 times, bolstering her total prize to $20,552,555.15.
The Sydney woman's six winning numbers in Powerball draw 1140 on Thursday were 10, 17, 35, 40, 22 and 30, and the Powerball number was 7.
