A 40-year-old woman has been arrested by members of the Joint Counter-Terrorism Team at Parramatta earlier today.
The woman was arrested at approximately 7.30am and was taken to Parramatta Police station where she will be interviewed relation to allegations of financing terrorism.
This comes as a part of investigation Operation PEQIN, which commenced in June 2015 and focused on investigating people alleged to be involved in terrorist activities.
It is alleged that the woman is an Australian citizen and public servant, and transferred more than $30,000 to Islamic State between February and October 2015.
There is no evidence that her work in a government department was compromised or linked to these activities.
She will be charged with five counts of intentionally collect and make funds available to a terrorist organisation.
The taskforce stressed that there is no current or impending threat to the community as a consequence of today's arrest.
