We all woke up in the hours between 3am and 6am this morning to be greeted by the brightest lightning strikes we have ever seen.
Tbh, I thought it was the light of heaven welcoming me to the gates to begin my new life.
Thankfully, the rest of Sydney was also on our side with the whole “WTF HAPPENED LAST NIGHT?” thing.
You might find that everyone you talk to today will be like… “What about that storm last night ayeeeee?”
It turns out that in those storm hours there were over 4600 lightning strikes in the greater Sydney area.
The Bankstown area was hit the hardest, with about 6800 homes and businesses losing power around 4:30am.
Parts of Yagoona, Bass Hill, Sefton, Chester Hill, Georges Hall, Bankstown, Auburn, Birrong, Condell Park, Berala and Regents Park were affected with loss of power. Along with about 1000 homes and businesses in parts of Westleigh, Thornleigh and Hornsby also lost power following a large lightning strike.
The people of Sydney were left as shook as us.
Stay safe out there fam.
