An adventurous cat who went missing almost a week ago has been reunited with her owners after being found in Sydney Harbour Tunnel, some 20km from home.
After posting several “missing pet” style notices on Facebook groups, alongside an unsuccessful in-person search, Alice Leung feared her pet moggie Vix was hiding or had been hit by a car.
That is, until the cat made two appearances on Seven News, evading capture inside of the twin-twin road tunnel, and without wearing a toll tag (cat collars don’t cut it sadly).
Vix was eventually caught by a maintenance worker, who identified the feline from her microchip.
“The person who found her is a staff member for Sydney Harbour Tunnel,” tweeted Ms Leung.
“Then I found out Vix was the cat spotted in the tunnel by drivers and made it on the news.”
While greater details of Vix’s trek across Sydney will forever remain a mystery, Alice did share her thanks online for the “power of social media” in making sure “a lost cat made its way home”.
Glad to see Vix is home safe and sound!
