A new report has found that Sydney is the most liveable city in Australia - however (unsurprisingly), the public transport system is letting us down.
The study by RMIT University's Centre for Urban Research Creating Liveable Cities in Australia found that Sydney has the shortest distances between homes and activity centres, and largest percentage of people using public transport.
One pitfall which was noted in the report was that only two per cent of Sydney suburbs and 38 per cent of homes were found to meet Transport for NSW targets.
This included all residents being within 400m of a bus stop and 30 minutes of a train station which is serviced every 15 minutes.
The report sites low-density housing as the cause of the issue, as the services work better for higher density housing.
