If you’re a fan of The Block, you may not be too happy with this news!
Yes, The Block may have originally started in Sydney back in the day… but yeah, that's never gonna happen again.
Sadly, for us Sydneysiders, the show has been based in Melbourne since Series 4 and now 13 seasons later.. it looks like it is there to stay.
The show has become extremely successful since the move and the show’s hosts agree.
Scott Cam has spoken to Daily Telegraph about the show moving back to Sydney saying, “At this stage, no ... we need to get the council on board with us. That’s our biggest problem."
The last time the show was filmed Sydney, the production crew were hit with over $200,000 worth of fines in 2013 over 10 different times.
Scott added, “The Victorian Government realise that we bring about $20 million into the economy ... we don’t have catering, so the 150 tradies all go off site to buy their food.”
Co-host, Shelley Craft also commented on the show returning to Sydney stating, “There is not a lot of excitement watching someone get stuck in traffic for six hours.”
Adding, “Councils are great to us [in Melbourne], most of our production team and crew have relocated, real estate is obtainable in Melbourne and so for so many reasons we are here… We have amazing support from the city of Melbourne.”
This season of The Block will be located in Elsternwick, Melbourne.
