New South Wales prisons will be subject to a security sweep over the next several months as there is an attempt to crackdown on contraband.
Corrections Minister David Elliot said this came in response to the large number of banned items, such as drugs, phones and weapons, that had made their way inside prisons.
According to AAP, the 11 week operation will see 100 security officers and 40 dog teams sweep prisons across NSW.
"For too long, too much has got in. We can't sugarcoat that," Mr Elliot said.
