P-Plater Charged After Elderly Man Killed In Sydney's South East

A P-plate driver has been charged after his car hit an elderly man who was taking his evening stroll in Sydney's southwest.

The 18-year-old man's car left the road, mounted the footpath and hit the 80-year-old pedestrian around 6pm on Sunday in Cecil Hills, police said.

The elderly man died on the way to hospital, while the male driver and his female passenger were both uninjured.

The teen driver has been bailed to appear at Liverpool Local Court on February 14.
