Onboard Incident Forces Plane To Land At Sydney Airport

In breaking news, a flight has been grounded at Sydney International Airport due to an incident on board.

There were reports that there was a fire onboard a Virgin flight.

"It is believed passengers are on board the aircraft but no evacuations have taken place," a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said.

Virgin Australia flight VA1627, Sydney-Ayres Rock, safely returned to the gate prior to take-off this morning, after a warning light in the flight deck illuminated while on the taxiway. There was no fire or any smoke present, however in line with standard operating procedures, the Captain return to the gate as a precautionary measure, escorted by emergency services. Engineers are currently inspecting the aircraft and guests are being reaccommodated onto other services. We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused, however safety is our number one priority.
