Man Charged For Allegedly Lighting Bushfire

A police investigation into the fires in Berowra last Tuesday has resulted in a man being charged with three counts of lighting a fire and being reckless to its spreading, and possessing an article to destroy others' property.

According to a statement from NSW Police, the 50-year-old man was found a small distance from the fire, just off the Pacific Highway, Berowra on September 5.

He attempted to flee, but was arrested by officers and charged at Hornsby Police Station.

Police will allege that the man lit fires on August 24, September 5 and September 13.

He was refused bail and will appear at Hornsby Local Court tomorrow.
