Man Charged After Allegedly Knowingly Infecting Woman With HIV

A man has been charged after allegedly knowingly infecting a woman with a communicable disease.

It is understood that a woman made a report with police from Eastern Suburbs Command, stating that a man had knowingly infected her with HIV.

Officers arrested a 53-year-old man at a business in Rozelle yesterday following their investigation.

Prohibited drugs and ammunition were allegedly found inside the man's backpack upon being searched.

He was taken to Newtown Police station and charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent, bestiality and possess ammunition without holding licence or permit.

He has been refused bail and will appear before Newtown Local Court today.
