Man Arrested After Removalist Rort Scheme In Sydney's West

A 40-year-old man has been charged following a police investigation into a removalist rort in western Sydney.

Complaints were lodged about a removalist who would not deliver the goods unless additional payments were made.

Police from Hawkesbury Police Area Command have been investigating the claims that a removalist in their area would provide a quote to move furniture and personal goods. 

After getting the job, the man would then collect the goods, but demand extra money before releasing them back to the owner.

At 1.30pm today, police observed a 40-year-old man 32-year-old woman in a vehicle in a Macquarie Street at Windsor.

Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the man, seizing several items as part of their investigation.

He was taken to Windsor Police Station and charged with three counts of larceny as a bailee.

He has been refused bail and will appear tomorrow at Penrith Local Court.
