Literal 'Cat Burglar' Breaks Into Police Station After Being Missing For A Year NSW Police

A cat missing for nearly a year has be reunited with its family after it broke into a police station last week.

Police from Richmond Local Area Command apprehended a female cat named Leelo after the break-in at Lismore station on Wednesday, January 24.

The kitty was provided with food and a warm place to sleep, with a social media appeal launched to help find Leelo's home.

Leelo's owner was found on Saturday and the pair were reunited.

It turns out that Leelo was believed to have been lost in floods in the area in March last year.

Richmond Crime Manager Detective Chief Inspector Cameron Lindsay said the officers were glad that the cat was able to return home.

"We hope Lismore's finest cat burglar will now put her life of crime behind her and enjoy a new start with her owner," he said.
