A Sydney mum has posted photos of her botched experience with lip fillers after a local beauty clinic accidentally pierced an artery in her lip during the procedure.
According to yahoo.com, the woman went to a beauty clinic rather than a salon, however she still had complications from the procedure with extreme swelling.
"Before the procedure, she was meant to Skype a doctor to introduce me and to say what was happening," Kristine McCarthy said. "I was completely naive and didn’t do my research so I had no idea about that."
She's shared photos of her lips to warn people about her experience:
One of the main factors for consideration is the use of an angled cannula, instead of a needle like was used in this case.
A cannula won't pierce the vein, so the woman was advised by a doctor to in future ensure that this method was implemented instead of a needle.
"Anything cosmetic or anything like that, things can go wrong," she said.
"I would only go to a doctor – I wouldn’t go to a nurse who Skypes over an iPad.
"Otherwise you go in there thinking you’re doing something to make yourself look better and you come out looking worse."
